Harvest Moon Acres exists to steward living soil with the principle of "First, do no harm."
We grow nutrient-dense food without pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers—nurturing the land through permaculture techniques that work synergistically with this land.We believe that when the earth is supported, it flourishes. When soil is alive, the food grown is medicine. We grow to nourish our family, our community, you and your family.
At Harvest Moon Acres, we live by the guiding principle rooted in the oath that physicians take: First, do no harm.We operate under this vow and apply it toward the soil, our land, Mother Nature and the living systems that sustain us. Just as when the human body is given what it truly needs, it has the innate capacity to heal. The same is true of the earth. When soil is respected, nurtured, cared for and supported with integrity, it yields abundance, vitality, and health, and thus supports us.Mother Earth owes us nothing. We owe her everything. Our gratitude is expressed through stewardship for and with her. Our sense of responsibility is reflected in our methods. Our survival, success and sustenance are inseparable from her well-being. The opportunity to be a steward of this land is a gift I am grateful for.For decades—long before organic certification was fashionable—no pesticides, no herbicides, and no synthetic fertilizers have touched this land. We are committed to cultivating living soil through no till processes, composting all that we can, using cover crops, and a variety of other permaculture techniques that are unique to this terrain. All this supports water conservation and a natural process of building nitrogen. We build a healthy microbiome to build fertile ground instead of depleting it. We support biodiversity rather than suppress it. We regenerate rather than exhaust. The vegetables grown here reflect that care—nutrient-dense, vibrant, and alive with bodaciousness. Our purpose is to grow food that nourishes our local community and supports a healthy future as individuals and a society by eating locally and from well-nurtured produce. We farm not only for yield, but for health—of soil, of body, and of community. Please join us in helping to create a healthy future.
